About Me

About Me

I was raised in a small village, quite literally, outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan. I graduated from the University of Michigan with honors and a BA in Film and Video Studies in 2005. Summer of 2008, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams in the post production world. I found an apprenticeship with a VFX firm where I learned green screen keying, motion stabilization, and mask editing. Alas, as small town Midwest gal, I could only handle so much of LA, so in 2012 I moved to Denver, CO.

Growing up, I was always the outsider no matter where I was. While the cool kids on the dance team thought I was a weirdo, the drama club thought I was a preppy jock. It was in Denver that I finally found my niche: I was a geek. How it took me 30 years to figure this out I cannot tell you, but once I started playing table top games like Catan and Magic the Gathering, I realized there were others out there who loved Dr Who, could quote Lord of The Rings, or knew the meaning of the abbreviation MMORPG. I met my husband, we bought a house in the suburbs, got a dog, and last year added our beautiful baby girl to our family. One day I had a realization that although my journey to this point had been fraught with many ups and downs, I would not be the person I am today without my experiences.

My new found love for life and learning is the greatest gift I can share with my students. I love learning about science and technology and the many wonderful discoveries we have made in the last decade. I have a contagious excitement for knowledge and now that I am comfortable being the quirky gal in the room, I can focus my enthusiasm towards my students. My past helps me to relate to students on a personal level and share my personal struggles for their benefit. With my eclectic background in technology, I plan to create an extensive, invigorating learning space where students can use the technology they already love to explore the many worlds of science. I carry my experiences with me and utilize the lessons I have learned to help guide my students to a path with healthy emotionally choices and significant life goals.
